Camdeboo
The word Camdeboo's origin is also from the Khoekhoe language. A few possible meanings are doing the rounds, including "green heights" and "green pool", and some speak of "green manatee pool".
!am !gam, !cam, !kam - are all words that refer to the colour green of the tribes that were in the area.
The general assumption is that the green refers to the bacon trees that abound in the region. Their bright green color is clearly visible, especially on the mountain slopes.
The first place where I find Camdeboo on a map is in Sir John Barrow's journal of the journey through Southern Africa from 1797 - 1798
