Rooi Bruggie
The Red Bridge was built by The Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company at the behest of the Cape Government. At that time, there was constant water in the river and not everyone had access to a horse-drawn carriage to transport them to the station. The problem was transferred to the Cape Government by the then municipal council under the mayorship of BZ Stegmann and a bridge was built. Unfortunately, the exact date of the bridge has been removed but the completion must have been between 1902 and 1903. Ironic that a tremendous drought hit Willowmore between 1902 and 1909. The rivers dried up....fortunately bridge was already built!
