Rudolf Niemoller Persele

Rudolf Niemoller Persele (RNP) is located in the heart of Pofadder since 1921.

We provide office facilities and training facilities for companies operating in the area.

RNP also offers accommodation for workers, contractors and holidaymakers visiting the area.

Please visit the museum, at our premises, which tells the story of Pofadder and its people.

The Bushmanland consists of approximately 2 million hectares of which, roughly, a quarter falls in the Pofadder district. Pofadder, in the Bushmanland, lies between Upington in the Green Kalahari and Springbok in Namaqualand and is the turning point from the N14 to the best places to visit. For more than 100 years, Pofadder has been the go-to place for large mine development on the West Coast (Diamonds), Namaqualand (Copper), Pella (Sillimanite), Gamsberg (largest Zinc deposit), Aggenys (Zinc, Lead, Copper, Silver) and also solar farm development.

Pofadder Hotel, Pofadder Inn and Kleinplasie self-catering units are managed by Country Hotels. There is also Rus-i-Bietjie for 4X4 and accommodation.

Pofadder NG Church, built in 1912, is one of the old stone buildings that keep watch over all the changes. The 1938 Voortrekker Monument, at the top of Voortrekker Street, commemorates the Johanna van der Merwe wagon, which passed through here in 1938 on its way to Pretoria, and gave the main street its name. The street is wide enough for an ox cart to turn into. The O.T. van Schalkwyk park commemorates a Doctor/Mayor who served five districts in the Khai-Mai area throughout his life: Pofadder, Pella (37km) Aggenys (60km), Witbank (130km) and Onseepkans (50km).

Pofadder has general traders such as Foodzone and a Butchery that sells the best Bushmanland lamb.

At Pofadder Auto (24hr fuel station) you get fresh pastries and Local-is-Lekker next to the KLK fuel station and already just after 5 in the morning you have coffee and something nice to start the day with.

The Namakwa Eco 4x4 starts just outside Pofadder, near Pella, with a beautiful cathedral (built in 1876) and a museum where nuns tell the stories. 50km West of Pofadder is Klein Pella with the largest date plantation in the Southern Hemisphere and a lovely guest house and camping site.

North of Pofadder is Onseepkans with a border post at the Orange River and from here SA Forest Adventures and Gravity Adventures take you by canoe to the Ritchie falls (30km).
