Pierre Ferreira Hiking Trail
The Pierre Ferreira Hiking Trail takes you through beautiful Karoo veld, past two old fort which date back to the Boer War. The Willowmore Town Guards used the forts as a look out point to guard over the building of the railway line to Willowmore in 1902. At the time the "Boer Rebels" were threatened to blow up the railway line, hence the fact that it needed to be watched over.
The hiking trail is an easy 2-3 hour circular route which offers some beautiful views of the town and the surrounding areas.
The best time to do this hike is early in the morning or at sunset to get a truly unique experience of the Karoo.
