A quiet, cosy home in an established garden, the Owlhouse Backpackers reflects one of its previous lives as the Buddhist meditation centre.

The Owl House Backpackers offers you a clean, bright, welcoming home from home in the heart of Nieu-Bethesda. It is on the main street, opposite the Owl House office.

Sip sundowners in the garden, watch the sky light up with stars, or curl up next to the wood-burner, enjoying a glass of wine while braaing some delicious Nieu Bethesda Karoo lamb.

If you don’t fancy cooking, Ian and Katrin, your well-travelled hosts, can provide breakfast, a packed lunch and point you to the best eateries around town.

Environmentally conscious, the Owlhouse Backpackers is the one of the few establishments in Nieu Bethesda making use of solar geysers, compost toilets and grey water recycling. All rubbish is separated and as much as possible composted on site
