Hantam Dierewelsyn

Hantam Dierewelsyn (HDW) focuses on feeding the really hungry dogs in Calvinia-Wes and Blikkiesdorp every week....where it is clear that their people themselves are also suffering. However, we link the feeding to sterilization/castration and preferably feed the sterilized and neutered animals first. If there is food left, get the rest too.

We organize sterilization campaigns....have already had 554 dogs/cats neutered in 2023.

Furthermore, we give advice and meds where we can and take the animals that we cannot help ourselves to the local vet.

We also drive through the streets with a dip van and try to dip as many dogs as possible. Ticks are always a big problem.

HDW also tries to show people how fun/fulfilling it is to have a good relationship with your animal. We regularly give educational information about Radio Kaboesna.

However, looking after the welfare of pets is an ongoing process and a challenge for which there is no simple answer.
