ABO Burgermonument

Between Calvinia and Nieuwoudtville there is a monument commemorating the last surrender of the second war of independence 1899-1902 which took place in the area along the Oorlogskloof River. It is of a young man putting his weapon on the ground and holding a pen in the air, which represents that the weapons have been laid down, but the pen is being used to fight for independence from England.
